Not sure why this is the case on some WordPress installs and not others.  I work for a hosting company and we see it occasionally,  if its the age of the install,  the server,  the WordPress plugins,  no common denominator but here is a fix if the updater gets stuck.

  • Go into file manager
  • rename Divi to divi,  this won’t break the site like you might think
  • Run the updater again,  It will create a new Divi folder and update
  • Go back into File Manager and delete the lowercase divi folder

From now on the auto updater seems to work going forth,  if not rinse and repeat until a cause/fix can be identified.  Hope this helps someone,  would like some feedback.
